UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, collaborates with the Women’s Race so that more than 30 refugee and asylum-seeking girls and women can participate in this event for free. For these girls and women forced to flee war, violence, or persecution, sport is a key tool that strengthens their integration into the host society and promotes their physical and mental well-being. The reach of the Women’s Race in the different cities where it is held also helps to make visible the reality of refugee and asylum-seeking women and their capacity for resilience and overcoming adversity.

Additionally, another 30 refugee women welcomed by the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR) in Barcelona will take part in the Women’s Race this Sunday. Women who have arrived in Barcelona after fleeing their home countries in search of a new place to rebuild their lives. As part of their integration process in the city, participating in this race allows them to enjoy a leisure activity where they can have fun while playing sports and feeling empowered. They will be part of a unique activity to build bonds with the city and their new neighbors.

The Ibn Battuta Foundation, a nationwide organization that works for the inclusion and social cohesion of people of immigrant origin so that they may become citizens with rights, responsibilities, and equal opportunities, has also received 100 free bib numbers from the event organizers.

Pulseras Rosas will also be present at all expos nationwide, cutting ponytails and donating wigs to the most disadvantaged women, thanks to the support of Banco Santander.

The Z Zurich Foundation continues its cooperation once again with the Central Lechera Asturiana Women’s Race together with Zurich Seguros, one of the circuit’s sponsors. The Women’s Race also helps raise awareness in the fight against gender-based violence. All participants will wear the same bib number, 016, the national hotline for victims of gender-based violence, which leaves no trace on the phone bill.

In 2023 the Spanish Metastatic Breast Cancer Association will be present in all cities. The movement #laMquefalta, launched by the Daiichi Sankyo | AstraZeneca Alliance and the Spanish Metastatic Breast Cancer Association (ACMM), calls citizens, companies, and institutions to action to raise visibility of metastatic breast cancer and raise awareness about this disease. The conversation around breast cancer is incomplete without discussing metastasis, and it is currently little known by the general public. This movement seeks to highlight the specificities, treatment approaches, and needs of metastatic breast cancer patients, a condition affecting more people every year in our country.
