Male violence does not end when a woman manages to get away from her abuser. After that, a complex recovery process begins, in which she needs support, guidance and specialized resources to rebuild her life and that of her daughters and sons.
Somos Más, Women Survivors of Male Violence, is an association from Aragon formed and led by survivor women. From Zaragoza, we work so that no woman has to face this path alone.
One of our main lines of action is the Mentors-Companions program, based on peer support. Women who have survived male violence accompany others who are going through that process, offering them listening, guidance and close support that complements professional intervention.
We also provide psychological care, develop prevention and awareness actions, deliver training in schools, institutions, associations and other groups, and work to improve the social and institutional response to gender violence.
In 2026, Somos Más celebrates ten years of work, commitment and support. Ten years putting the voices of survivor women at the center and reminding everyone that escaping violence is possible, but that no woman should have to do it alone.
This year we will be present at +SolidariAs of the Zaragoza Women's Race, which will take place on November 8, and also at the Runner's Expo. It will be an opportunity to get to know us, learn about our work and join forces against male violence.
In addition, we will continue moving forward thanks to the signed agreement. We know that psychological care is essential because the consequences of violence do not disappear when the woman gets away from the abuser. Trauma, fear, guilt, loss of self-esteem or the difficulties in regaining autonomy require specialized and sustained support. Interrupting that process due to lack of resources can slow down women's recovery and also affect the well-being of their daughters and sons. Each session costs 60 euros. The Women's Race organization is going to make a donation of 2,000 euros to the Somos Más Association to fund 33 psychological care sessions, intended for women who need this support and cannot afford its cost.
Because running together also means moving forward together toward a society in which all women can live free and without fear.
