The largest Pink Tide in history: the Central Lechera Asturiana Women's Race in Madrid brings together 38,000 participants this Sunday

Madrid will hold this Sunday, May 10th, from 9 a.m., a historic edition of the Central Lechera Asturiana Women’s Run with all 38,000 available bibs sold out, setting the participation record of the race in its 22 years of existence, with 2,000 more women than in 2025. The “Pink Wave” will have to complete nearly 6 and a half kilometers of the course starting on Paseo de la Castellana and finishing at the traditional finish line on Paseo de Camoens, before joining the much-anticipated one-hour fitness and aerobics festival and musical performances by Alejo Stivel, who will revisit his greatest hits with Tequila, and Team D´Luxe.

The runners’ expo, the SportWoman Fair, will take place this weekend at the Centro Deportivo Municipal Gallur (Avenida de Ángel Sanz Briz), on Friday May 8th and Saturday May 9th, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. non-stop. There will be plenty of activities, talks, and workshops, and children’s races will return on Saturday afternoon, including events that combine dance and sport, fitness, and prevention against street harassment.

Today it was officially presented at the Palacio de Cibeles, with the presence of Sonia Cea, head of the Delegated Sports Area of the Madrid City Council; Macarena Gámir, deputy director general for Women and Equal Opportunities of the Community of Madrid; Carolina Martínez, from the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Madrid; Eva Ribero, from the Spanish Association of Metastatic Breast Cancer; Andrea de Ayala, presenting Somos Imparables; Blanca García, from the Bobath Foundation (the project chosen this year from the +Solidarias program); Ana Pérez from Wanawake Mujer; Paula Barrachina, director of External Relations and Communication at UNHCR; singer Alejo Stivel; journalist Jennifer García Carrizo (presenting the #MásQueUnaMuñeca project); athlete Gema Hassen-Bey; Hàjar El Mansouri from Octopus Energy; doctor Marta Ramírez from the Tu Corazón Corre project; Yolanda Vázquez, founder of the race; and María Wandosell, CEO of Sport Life Ibérica, organizer of the event.

During the ceremony, Olympic athlete Marta Pérez was honored, a role model for all girls and teenagers who want to become athletes, and Carmen Benito, from Radio Tentación, for her contribution to communication on equality.

The event was recognized by the Madrid City Council plenary session two years ago as a sports activity of special civic significance and general interest for the city of Madrid, an honor that acknowledges its uniqueness, its deep roots in the city, and its more than two decades of history.

The Women’s Run announced today that at the conclusion of the last of the 9 races it will donate €100,000 to the Spanish Association Against Cancer, €20,000 more than in 2025, and that it hopes to reach €200,000 in donations across all its solidarity projects and the contributions of the runners in this edition.

After Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (March 15th), the second race will be Madrid (May 10th), and the circuit will continue in Vitoria–Gasteiz (May 31st), Valencia (June 7th), Gijón (June 21st), A Coruña (September 27th), Zaragoza (November 8th), Seville (November 15th), and will conclude in Barcelona on November 22nd.

In the past 2025 edition, the historic figure of 1,600,000 women participating since 2004 was surpassed, in what is the largest women’s sports event in Europe. In 2026 the goal will continue to be to promote running and aerobic exercise among women of all ages, fight cancer, raise funds to support research, and increase awareness on the importance of early prevention, as well as combat gender-based violence and social and educational inequalities faced by women in all areas.
